I knew you were planning on doing a Qnotes skin with Yum, but I did not realize it would be so soon. What a wonderful surprise it was to see him tonight. Sweet little Yum. He is the most delightful fantasy dragon I have ever known. What? Oh, sure you do! Didn't you know one when you were a child? What happened?
I saw an image of a dragon today. The dragon was fierce and evil looking. I always wonder how they get that way. Were they sweet like Yum when you were a child? Did you grow up and decide the dragon wasn't real and the dragon felt rejected and got mean? Maybe, like an elephant in a circus that is not well cared for, so one day it goes on a rampage? Oh I know there are people in this world who did not know a dragon when they were young. And I suppose there are people in this world who will never have the pleasure of knowing one. I do understand. I didn't know a dragon when I was young either.
BoXXi gave Yum to me when I first met him early this year at DeskMod. I didn't know BoXXi very well back then, but he said, "This is "BoXXi, yes, he's a dragon! He lives with me and I feed him oranges. Don't you just love him? Take him home."
This is how I responded:
Sweet, sad little dragon, sittin' all alone,
wonderin' who will take him home.
He eats oranges, doesn't breath much fire,
he might become your heart's desire.
BoXXi likes him so he must be nice,
if you have a gas stove, he'll be your pilot light.
C'mon little dragon, spread your blue wings.
Fly home with me, I love fantasy.
Thanks BoXXi, I do just love him. BoXXi and I have corresponded in comments ever since.
Yum was the saddest looking little thing. I thought he needed protecting at first. But every time I was sad, I was reminded of him, and the reminder made me smile. I found that he is magic and amusing. I could write stories and poems about him.
(One time...)
I thought I might lie on the floor and never move again, and my body would melt into the wood and I would become the grain and flow into invisible nothingness...it was deep sadness.
The next day I found Yum swinging on a star, eatin' orange slices from a jar. He simply said, "I've been waiting on you." He 'poofed' me wings and we flew to see a nebula he had discovered in a far away galaxy.
